Monstrance - a reliquary in which the priest carries spare Holy Communion Gifts for sick or dying. Reliquary wrapped in a bag and carried on the chest. Most of the time the monstrance is kept in the church on its holy throne. Inside it there is a small cup (calix), labis, ampulla for wine and a sponge for calix. It symbolizes the Holy Sepulchre, and the ark of the covenant of ancient Israel.
