Exclusive Kazan Icon of the Mother of God
Saint Mary tilted her head in prayer addressing to her Divine Son. Jesus is depicted frontally, staring directly at the viewer, with a raised in blessing with his right hand. "Our Lady of Kazan" is one of the most revered icons in Russia. Her cult has arisen in connection with the conquest of the kingdom of Kazan by Ivan the Terrible and the strengthening of Orthodoxy there. Icon miraculously was found in 1579 a young lady in the land of meters placed in the Annunciation Cathedral in Kazan. Subsequently, she became famous for many miracles and in a variety of copies spread throughout Russia.
