Catherine the Great († 1st floor. IV of the century) was born in Alexandria in a noble family and was brought up in pagan faith. One day with her mother, a secret Christian, she was visited by a monk, who predicted her marriage to the heavenly Bridegroom, and told about the Christian faith. On the same night St. Catherine in a dream appeared to Christ and put her finger a beautiful ring. In the morning, he saw a wonderful ring, the girl returned to the monk and was baptized.
Saint Catherine began openly to preach Christianity, and during a visit to Alexandria Emperor Maximin, took part in a public philosophical debate. This saint was so convincing that many spectators and philosophers believed in Christ. The enraged emperor ordered to kill the holy hunger. But the Lord sent a dove that brought the martyr food. Not admonition miracle holy emperor ordered on the wheel and then beheaded. The remains of the martyrs were delighted to Mount Sinai, where her head and left hand with a ring were discovered by the monks of the Sinai monastery.
