Icon of the Akhtyrskaya Mother of God with a Golden Crown
This miraculous image of the Mother of God was miraculously phenomenon of July 2, 1739 in the village of Akhtyrka (now the city of Sumy region), for the priest Daniel Polyansky. In the tall grass, he saw the icon of the Holy Virgin from which the pouring uncredible light was brighting. After transferring it to the church, miracles began to happen. People are healed of various diseases and the rumor about it quickly sold out. In 1751 the Holy Synod established the worship of the image of a miraculous Akhtyrsky. The uniqueness of this icon lies in the fact that Holy Mother of God is depicted without the Infant Jesus, with reverently folded hands, and be seen at the right hand of the Crucifixion. Church celebrates the memory of the Mother of God icon Akhtyrskaya July 2nd.
