Icon of the Mother of God of the Three Hands
Before the icon of the Mother of God of the Three Hands , Orthodox pray for healing feet, hands, eyes and body. The history of this miraculous icon tells us about how her husband John of Damascus Church endured torment defending the true Christian faith of heretics iconoclasts. The Byzantine Emperor Leo III the Isaurian ordered to cut off St. John right hand and hang it on the emporium for all to see. Only at the end of the day Saint John pleaded with the evil Emperor to give him a hand. With a brush in his hand severed, saint of God began with tears to beg the Virgin Mary before her icon of healing. In the morning he fell asleep from exhaustion, and woke up some time later, he saw that the hand well and brush as if he was not cut off. Filled with joy and gratitude, the Queen of Heaven for the miraculous healing he poured pure silver hand and held it to the icon. From this time, icon was called Three Hands. Since that time, Christians are asking the Queen of Heaven before this miraculous way of healing feeble flesh and intercession.
