Krasovskaya icon of the virgin Hodegetria (XV century)
A copy of the ancient Ukrainian icons of the XV century.
It has its origin from the village of Krasov in the Lviv region. It is stored in the National Museum in Lviv.
Manufacturing technology:
In the manufacture of machinery used icons of ancient monasteries. On a wooden base, previously prepared with gesso (primer based on chalk and animal glue with the addition of linseed oil) by a special technique applied stencil-reproduction with the old icon of the original. Next iconographer natural colors draws the divine image that is an exact copy of the original. After the drawing, the icon is treated on a unique methodology, through which, the natural cracks appear, as the original icons of the Middle Ages.
