St. Anatoly was a native of the city of Nicomedia (modern Turkey), who was then the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. He was born in a family of merchants. He had two older brothers blood - Eustace and Fespesy.
His father - Filofei after a meeting with the bishop Anthimus believed in Christ, and then he was baptized, and all his household, including Anatoly. Later, strengthened in the faith, Filofei became a priest, and his eldest son Eustace deacon. Thus, the Christian family has been able to serve God on their own, hiding their faith from the public authorities.
After his father's death, the brothers inherited his estate and lived together, supporting each other and continuing every day to make the secret service to the One God.
But, once a slave named Aquilino came to their house, he found that the door is not locked. When he went inside, he heard the words of a psalm, and realized what was happening. Aquilino informed his master, and the Roman authorities.
Brothers led to the court before the Emperor Maximilian. He urged them to renounce Christ and worship the Roman gods, but his proposal was strongly rejected.
Eustache, Fespesiya and Anatoly betrayed tortured. They humbly accepted a martyr's death, and later their bodies were secretly buried by other Christians.
