Saint Valeria and her sisters in Christ Mary and Kiriakia lived at the end of the 3rd century during the Great Persecution against Christians. Women lived in a deserted place, spending time in prayer, fasting and needlework. When the persecutors discovered them, then they were given a condition, or they would worship pagan gods, or death. Valeria, Maria and Kiriakia refused to serve the idols, and they chose flour for Christ.
