The Monk Arseny (in the world Alexey Mitrofanov) already in his youth desired the monastic life, when he had meetings with the Monk Seraphim of Sarov. In total, he had three thralls of Seraphim.
For a short time he was a novice in the Solovki monastery, and after a while he came to the Glinsky desert, where he was led by the Monk Filaret Glinsky. There he learned to do monastic work and under the guidance of a holy mentor began to grow rapidly and acquire an invaluable spiritual experience. In 1839 hegumen Filaret tonsured Alexis as a monk named Arseny.
After the death of Hegumen Filaret, the Monk Arseny became the first rector of the restored Svyatogorsk monastery. Imitating his spiritual father, hegumen Arseny did everything with great care and love, so that the monastery would be strengthened. He became a faithful father and mentor of the brethren. In just a few years on the site of the ruins a magnificent monastery appeared. In 1850, for his activities, Father Arseny was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.
Unfortunately, the Monk Arseny left in a different world at the age of 54. The brothers buried their mentor in the cave of the Holy Trinity. In 2008, the Holy Synod of the UOC glorified Reverend Assenia in the saints' face.
