The history of the martyrs Cyprian and Justina is truly amazing. Cyprian was a pagan priest who was engaged in predictions, sorcery and other demonic practices. Justina was a pious Christian girl. One day, a young man, Anlaid, turned to Cyprian, the son of wealthy pagans, in order that he bewitch Justin and make her consent to marry him.
Several times Cyprian made attempts to tempt Justin with a devilish force, but each time the girl remained faithful to the Lord and protected her purity. Angry, Cyprian tried to send sickness to the family Justina, but according to the holy prayers of the girl, all the misfortunes went around her house side.
Cyprian was so impressed by the power of Christ that he renounced his diabolical affairs, brought repentance to the local bishop Anfim, burned all his sorcery books with incantations, and soon became baptized and became a Christian. Cyprian so zealously began to serve the Lord and keep the commandments of God, that he soon became a priest, and later a bishop.
When the great persecution of Christians began on the orders of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, Cyprian, Justina, and other faithful Christ, they were thrown behind bars and subjected to cruel torture. Saint Cyprian and Justina received martyrdom. Seeing their firmness and faith, declared himself a Christian as one of the warriors who guarded the captives, named Theoktist. He was martyred with them.
