St. Basil the Great was famous for his struggle against heresy that in the IV century, many Christians were taken away from the true path. Being well educated and living a godly life, the holy ascetic traveled to many monasteries, which strengthened the brethren in the faith and refute various false teachings of heretics. Even when the state authority representatives entered heretical movements, Basil continued to denounce and refute all their teachings, without fear of any physical violence or persecution. Having lived a righteous and God-fearing life, the ascetic rested from earthly labors and quietly left this mortal world by going into eternity.
