The holiday based - the legend of the book Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:. 1-13), from which we learn that the day of the Jewish Pentecost, at three o'clock in the room, where there were after the ascension of Christ in constant prayer, the Apostles, suddenly heard noise from the sky which napovniv whole house and was heard far beyond its borders. In the air, there was a set of tongues of fire, they briefly fell on the heads of the apostles and the only light, but not burned .. As soon as the fire of God's apostles were filled with soul, they lifted up to the sky a word of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord for His goodness to mankind. And each of them began to speak on some still unknown to him. This knowledge of the apostles was the gift of the Holy Spirit needed to spread the truth of the Gospel throughout the world.
This event marked the founding of the Church of Christ .. Also that day opened another Person of God. In Old Testament times, people knew only about God, with the birth of Christ they saw His only begotten Son, and in the day of Pentecost, people were able to learn about the third person of the Trinity - the Holy Spirit.
