St. Anthony Pechersky from a young age chose a special way to Christ. After spending his childhood in his parents' home, he went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and from there to Mount Athos. It took monastic vows and stayed in one of the Russian monasteries. After some time, the ascetic was sent to Kiev, where he founded the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Pecherskiy Paterik describes not one miracle, which by prayers of the holy elder Lord has made. As an example of a true monk, St. Anthony instilled in many hearts a thirst for God and a holy life. From him, as from a source, the floods across the holy ascetics of the Orthodox lands. After living a decent life, the holy man went to the Lord, where he still prays to Him for our salvation.
