According to Orthodox tradition, of God of mercy mother of God, the value of which is equally large for all believers, used to be called a little differently – Korsun lik Annunciation of the blessed virgin. In the XIV century it was brought to Vilna from Chersonesos (Korsun), the great Lithuanian Duke Algirdas Gediminas after the attack on the Crimean Tatars. The icon was presented to them by first wife Mary, who later gave a priceless painting of Trinity Church.
