The Monk Savvaty was a monk of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. Humility, a gentle love for the brethren and a strict life sought him respect not only from the monks, but also from the laity. Gravitating with such attention, the Monk Savvaty left for Valaam, then, having learned about the desert islands, which were in two days of sailing from the shore of the White Sea, sailed there with the Monk Herman. The ascetics settled near the Sekirnaya Mountain of the Solovetsky Island, where they placed a cell. The ascetics lived together for six years. On September 27, 1435, the Monk Savvaty departed for eternity. Later the Monk Herman met the monk Zosima, who was looking for a secluded place. Together they went on a voyage to the Solovetsky Islands, where the beginning of the famous Solovetsky monastery was laid.
