Saint Ludmila lived more than a thousand years ago. She was the wife of Prince Bohemia of Bohemia the First, the first Christian ruler of this country. Influential pagans were unhappy with the faith and politics of the prince and his wife. After Borzyva's death, a period of turmoil and rapid change of rulers began in the Czech Republic. As a result, the Czech Republic passed to the eight-year-old grandson of Lyudmila Vyacheslav (Vaclav), whom her grandmother brought up in the Christian faith. Another grandson of Lyudmila Boleslav was raised by his mother named Dragomir, who adhered to pagan religion. On the night of 15 to 16 September 921, on the orders of Dragomir, the murderers strangled Princess Lyudmila with her own veil, which became her symbol after martyrdom. A hundred years later, she was ranked among the saints, and her grandson became the great Christian ruler of the Czech Republic, who was also ranked among the holy martyrs (he was later killed by his brother Boleslav).
