Saint Marina was born in Antioch of Pisidia. Her father was a pagan priest. From her wet nurse, Saint Marina learned about the Christian faith. At that time, Emperor Diocletian (284-305) raised the persecution of Christians, so that many Christians were forced to hide in caves and deserts. When Marina was twelve years old, she accepted Baptism. Upon learning of this, the father denied it. At the age of fifteen, Marina caught the eye of the ruler of that region. He wanted to marry her, but when he found out that she was angry and demanded that she renounce her faith. When Marina rejected such a proposal, she was tortured and killed along with other Christians.
