The Holy Prince Yaropolk Izyaslavich, in Holy Baptism Peter, was the grandson of Yaroslav the Wise, the great-grandson of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Vladimir. After the death of his father, he was given to the inheritance of the city of Vladimir-Volyn, from where Rostislavichi tried to drive him. On the way from Vladimir to Zvenigorod, Halytsky Yaropolk was treacherously killed by Neradets, who was among his retinue. The killer, probably, was bribed Rostislavich. The body of Yaropolk was transferred to Kiev and on December 5 was buried in the church of St. Peter, which he himself began to build. Many church monuments, beginning with the annals of the Monk Nestor, testify that the murdered noble prince Yaropolk was revered among the saints of God's saints.
