The Apostle is a liturgical book containing part of the New Testament, the Acts and Epistles of St. The apostles with special markings for conceived - fragments for reading for various divine services.
The Apostle also provides an annual liturgical schedule for the New Testament readings, indicating prokeimens and allylauris.
During worship, the Apostles conceived are read, as a rule, by a special reader (most often in stikhara) or less often by a deacon (for example, when two deacons take part in the service, then the second). However, the priest has the right to bless to read the Apostle and any layman (including a woman).
The apostle was the first printed book published in Russia by Ivan Fedorov in 1564.
