Through the efforts of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the National Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, an attempt has been made, using the example of 89 Orthodox icons of the fourteenth and first half of the 19th centuries, to show not only the national identity, but the kinship of the fine arts of three fraternal peoples, common sources and common mentor - Byzantium. Developing in different historical conditions, Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian icon painting became an outstanding phenomenon in the cultures of their countries.
