The book of Metropolitan Nicholas is a diary of the author's travels to Athos in the 70s of the XX century and nowadays. The records and meditations of the ruler reveal the mystical and hidden life of the saints from the nameless hermits to the ascetics known to the Orthodox world, such as Paisius the Svyatogorets or Gerasim Mikraevnanit. The book reveals to the reader the perpetual image of the Holy Mountain - a place wholly directed from the earth to heaven, from the life of the temporal to the eternal life.
