In the span of flying days and weeks, less time is left to abandon the information sea, to be alone in the pier of silence and think. Sit down and think about where we are flying, burning the fuel of days, in this race of life. What is the destination? Dozens of motivating articles urge us to correctly prioritize. This should bring success, prosperity and, ultimately, the happiness that everyone so wants. What is included in this happiness? Personal apartments, volume capital or thousands of likes in social networks? Having received all this, will there be a long awaited catharsis and peace?
Behind the imposed and external attributes that are offered to us very often and everywhere, in the oblivion, the main priority remains the soul. The consumer society has driven it into a corner so that it is usually beyond the material layer that it can not be seen. But two thousand years ago Christ spoke of something else: What is the use of man, if he gains the whole world and his soul hurts? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26). When, instead of a thirst for a meeting with Christ, only the desire to have a lot of pieces of paper with Benjamin Franklin lives in the heart, then one can not speak of the soul. Of course, no one denies that it is necessary to take care of everyday needs. However, do not put them at the forefront. It will not bring any external success if it is without a spiritual core.
During the coming Lent it is just worthwhile to think more about the state of your soul, rather than about the dollar exchange rate. Of course, it's hard to get rid of everyday worries. The Sermon on the Mount is not for nothing an example of God's concern for the birds of the air and field lilies. And two thousand years ago people without the Internet more often cared about the outside. However, Christ immediately designated for them the main priority needed for salvation. Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all the rest will be added to you (Matthew 6:33), - He says, thus explaining what should become our life guide. In order to find this Kingdom there is no need to search in any country or city, because it lives inside of us (Luke 17. 20-21). It remains only to get it out of the heap of vanity and false goals. Moreover, the Church offers us everything necessary for this, thanks to such means as fasting, charity and prayer. Fasting helps us to weed out all superfluous things for repentance and spiritual perfection. Prayer - gives the opportunity to come in contact with the treasury of God's grace. Charity - opens the way for the active embodiment of love for others.
If every day does not bring harmony, and designer repair, new acquisitions and a crowd of fans are not pleased, then your priorities are no good. Despite any development of science and technology, our soul remains the same and does not tolerate emptiness, for only in God is the happiness and fullness of human being. The long experience of the Church and its saints only confirms this eternal truth. So maybe it's time to change priorities? ..
