Holy Martyr Ludmila was a Bohemian princess. She was married to a Czech prince Borivoy. The couple were baptized by St. Methodius, Archbishop of Moravia the enlightener of the Slavs. Having becoming Christians they have expressed concern about the education of the true faith of their subjects. They built churches and priests were invited to perform in their worship.
Prince Borivoi died early in 36-year-old. Saint Ludmila was left a widow, kept strict pious life and continued to take care of the Church during the reign of her son Vratislav. Vratislav was married to Dragomira and had a son Vyacheslav from her. After the death of Vratislav there appeared 18-year-old Vyacheslav on the throne.
Taking advantage of the inexperience and youth of his son Dragomira began to spread pagan customs in the country. Saint Ludmila opposed this.
Dragomira hated the mother in law and tried to destroy her. When Saint Ludmila retired in Techin town then Dragomira had sent her two boyars for killing. At the time when the holy Lyudmila was praying the murderers entered the house and kept the commandment of Dragomira. The relics of the Holy Martyr Ludmilla were buried in the city wall of Techine. Her tomb became to commit numerous healings. Prince Vyacheslav transferred the body of Saint Ludmila in Prague and placed it in the church of St. George.
