On the front side of the cross is depicted the Crucified Lord Jesus Christ. He is expected to be the holy Russian prince warriors: Dmitry Donskoy and Alexander Nevsky on the left and right, and Boris and Gleb, the passion-bearers below.
On the back in the center is a symbol of Orthodox statehood, the Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God. It is surrounded by saints who embody the spiritual foundations of the Orthodox government.
