A small pectoral cross with a Crucifix on the obverse and a short prayer “Lord, have mercy” on the back, is made in a simple four-pointed form.
The image of the Lord on the obverse is traditional for the Orthodox Church. This is an image of an earthly man crucified on the cross, because it was just as a simple person that Jesus Christ underwent this cruel execution. But according to Orthodox tradition, the Lord is not depicted as suffering. In His image is the hope of resurrection, the expectation of Easter joy. The hands of Christ do not sag under the weight of a dying body. They are stretched out as if for a hug. Christ is the door of salvation, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Crucified and dead, the Lord always remains alive in His death itself.
