On an icon one of the greatest Russian shrines and Blessed Virgin Mary's icon which is very respected by believers - Kazan is represented. The Kazan icon of the Mother of God has been shown in Kazan in 1579, after the terrible fire which has destroyed a half of the city. At first the icon was in a dream to the ten-year-old girl Matrona, the daughter of a Sagittarius, and has ordered to tell the voivode and the archbishop that have taken her on the ashes of "bowels of the earth" pleasure and the help to Orthodox Christians.
In the summer of 1612 after a prayer the Kazan icon has freed Moscow. After the victory the prince Pozharsky has built the temple in honor of an icon, and the newly elected tsar Mikhail Romanov has ordered to honor her twice a year: On July 21 in day of her phenomenon and on November 4, as memory of release of the capital.
Moscow, brought by Minin and Pozharsky's army, and St. Petersburg lists are esteemed specially. The ancient shown icon doesn't exist any more. She has been kidnapped on the night of July 12, 1904 and destroyed by church robbers. However the Virgin doesn't leave believers without favor. Still on prayers of the Kazan image many miracles are carried out: incurable diseases recover, destinies of people are arranged.
