St. Martyrs, married couple Adrian and Natalia lived in the times of emperor Maximian (305-311), in the era of cruel persecution of Christians. Adrian was a court officer and witnessed the torments of Christians. He was impressed by their courage, and declared himself a follower of Christ before the Emperor. While doing that saint was arrested. St. Natalia wife of St. Adrian was a secret Christian. When she learning that her husband was arrested, she came to the prison and began to strengthen him, and asked him not to be afraid of suffering. On the day of the execution, she was near him. After the torture and execution, the body of the martyr was burned, but St. Natalia was able to take a severed arm of her spouse. The young widow went to live in seclusion, praying over the relics of the martyr St. Adrian. But the emperor decided to interrupt her seclusion, and to marry her to one of his generals. St. Natalia got to know it and managed to escape to Byzantium, where she died.
Sts. Adrian and Natalia, Martyrs are commemorated on September 8/26 August.
